For PE you will need a 1” hard cover
3-ring binder (separate from your other classes). It is important that your PE binder has a
hard cover and is the 1” size so that it fits in your PE locker and so it’s
heavy enough that it will not blow away outside. Your PE binder must include the following:
a)
Name, teacher and PE Period clearly labeled on the outside
b)
Pens/Pencils (stored inside your PE binder) NOTE: If you have to borrow a pen/pencil from Mr.
Dee for a test/quiz/assignment it will be dropped 10%
c)
Blank lined paper (stored in your PE binder for class notes &
assignments)
PE notebook checks will be done throughout
the school year to see that students have the proper PE notebook, class
materials, handouts, and class packet(described later) in order to help them be
more successful in PE. Your PE Binder will be due on Thu Aug 27th (B
Day) & Fri Aug 28th (A Day)
Grading
Your PE grade is a reflection of how well you demonstrate your PERSONAL
BEST each day. Every student has a chance to succeed as long as you come to class prepared, bring a
positive attitude, give your best effort, and follow instructions. Your points in PE will come from the
following areas:
·
Daily Points

Fitness Training
-
Activity Performance

·
Assignments (homework, classwork, projects, & worksheets)
·
Tests/Quizzes (demonstrating knowledge in different areas of
fitness/activity)

Medical NOTES
A parent or doctor note is required for each

PE make-ups for credit.

from dressing and/or activity; Based on the
injury/illness, the student will be given modified PE, an alternate assignment,
or a non-participation (which will require PE make-ups)
Absences
· Since PE is a participatory class, it is essential that students attend class regularly.
· Absences will affect a student’s grade if they are not made up.
·
It is the
student’s responsibility to know what they need to make-up.
· For an excused absence, students may turn in assignments on the day they return.
· All tests/quizzes must be made up within a week of returning to class.
PE Make-Ups
· PE make-ups will begin the week of September 7th.
· Students must be dressed in their PE clothes and meet at the blacktop fire hydrant by the time make-ups begin. Students will not be admitted to make-ups if they are tardy.
· All PE make-ups must be completed by the end of each grading period for credit. If you are absent the last week of a grading period then you have one additional week to do make-ups.
· Students must bring a PE MAKE-UP FORM with them to make ups and they must be filled out before you come to make-ups. You can print out make-up forms from the department/class webpages.
· If you know you are going to miss PE, it is ok to do make-ups before your absence.
· If you are suspended from class/school, you may not make up the suspension for credit.
· PE make-ups may not be done for extra credit.

we will use it in class often. To
replace a lost/missing class packet you may:
a)
Photocopy one from a classmate
b)
Print out a new packet from the class webpage
c)
Purchase a
new packet for $3.00 (copy costs) from Mr. Dee
CLASS WEBPAGE – www.pjhspe.com/dee
Lots of important class information can always be found on the class
webpage including access to current PE grades and homework assignments! For some assignments & class notes you
will be required to print them out from the class webpage yourself so you will
need some access to internet (if you don’t have any internet access talk to me
individually).

end of every week):

HOMEWorK/ LATE WORK POLICY
From time to time, students will have assigned homework in PE. You can usually view, print, and check
assignment guidelines and due dates from the class webpage. Assignments
are due at the beginning of the class period. Assignments that are turned in late will only
be accepted through the end of that grading period for credit. Late work will be adjusted as follows:
·
Up to one
day late = 75%
·
Two day’s
late (turned in during the next PE class) = 50%
·
More than
two days late through the end of that grading period = 25%
EXTRA CREDIT
Do not depend on extra credit because it will not be given in place of
missing work or low grades. Students
have the opportunity to participate throughout the year and it is important
that you take advantage of that; remember that your grade is a reflection of
your effort and performance throughout the entire year.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
·
Be a positive example and be a good leader
·
Listen and do not talk when Mr. Dee is talking
·
Be willing to learn and willing to try
·
If you are absent make sure to do the PE MAKE
UPS and/or make up your missed work
·
Complete all of your assignments on-time
·
Ask questions if you are not sure about
something
·
Always run when you are supposed to be running
·
During the runs, only walk if you really need to
and only where/when it is allowed (do not walk & talk)
·
Separate from your friends if they aren’t on
your level during the running/activities
·
Use the correct form on the stretches/exercises
so you don’t hurt yourself
·
Good stretches/warm ups are your responsibility
to get yourself prepared and to prevent injury
·
If you do things the right way they will get
easier, you will improve, and you will enjoy it more
·
Use the
class webpage to check your grades/homework/assignments/etc.
·
Have fun
but don’t mess around!
